Thoughts Pacquiao vs Barrera last October 6
Submitted by admin on October 10, 2007 - 10:42am.I know this is way too late. It was the birthday celebration of my better half on the same day or I could have been in SM City early last sunday and spared myself 5 hours of television advertisment. According to my server access logs we're getting requests for Pacquiao vs Barrera fight results last October 6, 2007 (Oct. 7 Phil. time) so it's only proper to give them what they're looking for.
Obviously Manny Pacquiao won over Marco Antonio Barrera despite all the controversy Pacquiao faced locally. The first 5 rounds of the fight showed that Barrera is capable of sending Pacquiao to the floor especially on rounds 3 and 4. Yes, Marco Antonio Barrera punched harder. In the end, it's still Pacquiao who got the crowns by punching more and dictate the fight.
Will there be a trilogy? Barrera was quoted saying there will no trilogy thinking he would win but I guess he's thinking hard about it right now.
Pacquiao-Barrera rematch set for October after deal
Submitted by admin on July 1, 2007 - 7:21am.LOS ANGELES (AFP) - Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao and Mexico's Marco Antonio Barrera will fight a rematch in Las Vegas on October 6, promoters announced here Friday after reaching a deal to settle legal disputes.
Officials of Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank agreed to a settlement that includes a debate on who had rights to Pacquiao, setting the stage for a super featherweight rematch of their November 2003 meeting at San Antonio, Texas.
Did Pacquiao picked the wrong choice?
Submitted by admin on January 31, 2007 - 2:17am.HBO backed down on covering the Pacquiao-Chi fight in Macau for fear of being dragged into Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank mess. And it look like the Pacquiao-Chi fight doesn't even have a venue yet.
While people connected to Wynn Macau Hotel are denying any knowledge about a fight Pacquiao is supposed to have there against Korean In jin Chi on April 28, HBO has backed out of the coverage of the event apparently because of certain legal implications caused by the Filipino ring sensation’s decision to stick it out with Top Rank.
HBO backed out of the coverage because Golden Boy Promotions, the Oscar De La Hoya outfit that signed Pacquiao to a seven-fight deal, sent the cable giant a letter saying it will be dragged into the legal mess currently hounding Top Rank if it will air the Pacquiao-Chi fight. Via Inquirer.net
Now, we wait. In the meantime, I hope he won't be fooled by getting into politics. I read somewhere that he's being lured into running for public office in his hometown.
Pacquiao And Barrera Will Fight
Submitted by admin on January 19, 2007 - 10:24pm.Yes. You heard/read it right. Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao will fight Marco Antonio Barrera. Definitely a match to watch. But before that, Pacquiao will be facing a South Korean In Jin Chi on April 28, 2007 in Macau, China.
A REMATCH between Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao and Mexican champion Marco Antonio Barrera will definitely happen because both fighters want the fight.
No date has been set but World Boxing Council (WBC) president Jose Sulaiman told reporters in an interview at his WBC office in Mexico City that the eagerly awaited confrontation “will take place.”
No Pacquiao-Barrera Fight in March 2007
Submitted by admin on January 4, 2007 - 11:37am.Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank have not agreed on Pacquiao-Barrera Fight. Instead Barrera will face Juan Manuel Marquez on March 17, 2007 in MGM Grand Las Vegas. Pacquiao, on the other hand, is still undecided on who to fight. Top on the list of fighters that Pacquiao may fight is Humberto "La Zorrita" Soto, only next to Pacquiao in 130-lb division of WBC, in April this year.
Pacquiao, so far, has no gripes on the failed match-up stating that it's Barrera who needs that fight not him since he had beaten Barrera before.
Wala namang problema sa akin kung silang dalawa ang maglaban. Tinalo ko na si Barrera. Kaya hindi ako naghahabol sa kanya.Madami dyang gustong lumaban sa akin. Via ABS-CBN Interactive
De La Hoya Top Trainer Downplay Pacquiao-Roach Tandem
Submitted by admin on January 3, 2007 - 12:13pm.Oscar De La Hoya's trainer Floyd Joy Mayweather Sr. saw nothing special about Manny Pacquiao and his coach Freddie Roach. Strong words from Mayweather:
Pacquiao, he ain't nothing but a puncher. End of story. Everybody is caught up, jumping on his bandwagon. All that talk about Freddie becoming Oscar's trainer...well, that might be true. But you can't teach nothing when you don't know nothing. So Pacquiao kicked Erik Morales' ass, so what? Zahir Rahim beat that guy, he is just finished. A blind man can see that.
Guys jumping on Pacquiao's bandwagon, they jump on Roach's bandwagon also. Pacquiao got no defense and no balance. He is always lunging. You think Roach can go in the gym. Put on the pads and show Pacquiao things like slipping punches, going side to side and banging to the body and then head, hooking off the jab...things like that? Freddie can't do it and most guys (trainers) can't do it. Via Boxing Confidential
The Pacquiao McDonald's Cap And His Future
Submitted by admin on December 30, 2006 - 7:10am.I just bought a Php 90.00 Team Pacquiao cap from McDonalds two days ago. I'm a big fan of Manny Pacquiao. His success is phenomenal. But if he's not careful, he'll be knocked-out not by a boxer but by people around him. Everybody wanted Manny.
After signing a $5-M purse, his manager went out to lash out at him. Then, to further confuse the boxer, he got a sweeter offer from another promoter and he was given until monday to decide on it.
Pacquiao-Barrera Fight in March 2007 Cancelled
Submitted by admin on December 26, 2006 - 8:02pm.The Pacquiao-Barrera fight set for March next year will not push through. Barrera will instead face Juan Manuel Marquez.
The possibility of a Barrera-Marquez tiff came out after the WBC cancelled its ultimatum for a purse bid between Pacquiao and Barrera. The cancellation stemmed from Pacquiao’s shunted dealings with Golden Boy and Bob Arum’s Top Rank.
